What is the muzzle velocity or V(0)?

The muzzle velocity or V(0) is the bullet/projectile velocity when the bullet base passes the barrel muzzle. It is typically measured with a chronograph. Sometimes, it is measured with some distance to the muzzle (i.e., 5 cm) and then specified as V(5cm).
